Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Fatal Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, local government spokespeople confirmed on Wednesday evening. The fighter was caught in a vehicular crash in the Lagos area on December 29th, a tragic incident that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
Joshua had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.
“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the official remarked.
A Tribute to the Fallen
Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”
This update on his health comes as the boxing community had expressed condolences for the star in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
