Ceasefire Offers Little Relief from Severe Weather

Although a ceasefire has been in effect from October, aid groups report that residents broadly lack the sufficient shelter necessary to withstand recurring winter storms.

Medical staff at Shifa hospital, which received the victims, said on Tuesday that the deceased were a pair of adult females, a girl, and a male adult.

In a separate incident, the local health authority stated on Tuesday that a one-year-old boy died of hypothermia overnight.

"The world has allowed us to witness loss of life in all its forms," stated Bassel Hamouda following the burial. "While it is correct the shelling may have paused for now, but we have seen all imaginable reasons of fatality in the world in the Gaza Strip."

Family Buried in Shelter Collapse

According to Shifa hospital, 3 people of a one family — elderly a man, his 15-year-old relative, and his daughter-in-law — were killed when an eight-metre tall wall fell onto their dwelling in a area near the sea of Gaza City. At least five others were injured in the incident.

Their relatives on that day started clearing the rubble that had buried their loved ones and reconstructing the tent shelters for survivors.

Humanitarian Efforts and Ongoing Crisis

Another Cold Season of Struggle

Gaza’s residents of more than two million individuals has been fighting to fend off the freezing temperatures and bad weather away while enduring lack of assistance and a absence of sturdier transitional shelter, which is urgently required during the colder season.
