Jennifer Lawrence States Speaking About Donald Trump Would ‘Add Fuel to a Fire’ That’s Ripping the Nation Apart
The star has revealed that she no longer feels suitable to speak out countering the Trump administration, fearing it could exacerbate divisive discussions and increase separation within the United States.
‘I Question the Usefulness’, Says Jennifer Lawrence
During a discussion, the Oscar winner shared, “When Trump was first in office, I thought I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off. But it’s become clear, election after election, Hollywood stars do not make a difference at all on electoral choices.”
She continued, “Why continue? I’m just voicing my thoughts on something that’s going to worsen tensions dividing the nation apart.”
Political Evolution
The actress has admitted freely about voting for both conservative and liberal contenders over the years. Growing up with conservative Republicans in her home state, she supported John McCain in 2008 then moving to the left-leaning politics and stating she recognized during President Obama’s term that voting Republican was undermining her personal freedoms as a woman.
Previous Comments
Several years ago, she stated that Donald Trump’s election would be “a catastrophic event” and endorsed the Democratic candidate in the 2020 presidential race. More recently, she gave her endorsement to the Democratic nominee, “because I think she’s an excellent choice and I know that she will do whatever she can to protect women’s health rights.”

Jennifer Lawrence was supported by many in the entertainment industry in her rejection of Trump as a candidate for re-election, but the minimal impact stars have over the voting intentions was emphasized by his election win.
“This upcoming term feels different,” noted Lawrence of his leadership. “Because he said what he was going to do. We were aware of his actions for four years. He was very clear. And that’s the option selected.”
Current Projects
The actor is discussing her new film, the filmmaker’s drama in which she portrays a new mother who struggles with her psychological well-being in a remote area. Speaking at a media event for the movie in the film festival, Lawrence commented on Israel’s bombings in Gaza: “I feel fear. It’s horrifying. What’s occurring is no less than a atrocity and it’s horrible.”
Broader Concerns
She continued by stating that she was saddened by “the disrespect in the conversations of the political landscape currently and how that is going to be commonplace to the younger generation today. It’s going to be normal to them that politicians lie.”
The actor attempted to refocus anger about the situation to leaders rather than celebrities. “Stay focused on the people in charge,” she advised, in what many took to be a reference to the then-recent pledge signed by thousands of Hollywood professionals to refuse engagement with specific industry bodies.
Individual Insights
Jennifer Lawrence, who won an Oscar at a young age for her performance in Silver Linings Playbook, is receiving praise for her performance in her latest project. While Lynne Ramsay has disputed the story being seen as one of maternal mental health issues and mental illness, she said that she connected with elements of her character’s journey after the arrival of her youngest child, soon after production wrapped.
“I felt anxiety for my son,” she said, “imagining every worst-case scenario, and then second-guessing everything that I was attempting. I was already in therapy, but I began using a medication called the prescription and I used it for a short period and it was effective.”
Film Challenges
The actor also discussed about the freeing requirement of filming without clothes in the movie while she was some months pregnant and unable to exercise.
“There’s a freedom,” she remarked, regarding the need to abandon insecurities. “Truly, I sometimes think where I’m like, What separates me between me and a prostitute? But it doesn’t trouble me deeply.”
