“The current IBSF Rules allow member nations to withdraw athletes from competition at any time,” declared the International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation (IBSF).
After reviewing the matter, the federation announced it would not impose sanctions, rejecting the allegations as there was no breach of its regulations.
Canada's Explanation
Reacting to the claims, Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton stood by the withdrawals, pointing to competitor health and the need for rest. The organization stated that some athletes had competed extensively that week and the move was “appropriate, transparent and aligned with both athlete welfare and the integrity of the sport.”
Coaches from the US, Denmark, Israel, and Malta had previously expressed “serious concerns” about the qualification process.
