The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second consecutive year.

The twenty-seven-year-old won four tournament victories – the highest tally on the circuit – including successfully defending the US Open in September versus Amanda Anisimova to claim her fourth Grand Slam singles triumph.

A Season of High Performance

Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka reached a tour-best nine championship matches, with defeats coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.

The star player also won the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She spent the whole season as the world number one, concluding 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year.

This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Record-Breaking Numbers

Sabalenka ended the competitive year with a 63-12 match record, and collected a historic eleven million pounds in prize money.

She received almost eighty percent of the votes submitted by international tennis media.

Later this month, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "help bring women's tennis to a new level".
