Two Men Face Charges Over Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack
Formal charges have been brought against two men related to a suitcase robbery where a suspected irritant spray caused injuries at the UK's busiest airport.
Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, now face two counts of robbery and charges for administering a noxious substance, according to official statements.
These accusations come after an probe of an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal Three on the weekend. Earlier that day, two women were robbed of their luggage taken after exiting a parking garage elevator, authorities reported.
A young child was caught up in the incident in the event. Five people went to hospital for treatment and were subsequently released.
The incident – which authorities stated was a standalone event and not considered a terror-related act – resulted in disruptions to rail services and the temporary blocking of the main airport road tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a brief period.
